Eain Yow faces Egyptian threat in New Zealand Squash Open semis

KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 — Third-seeded Ng Eain Yow is the only Malaysian left standing in the 2025 New Zealand Squash Open after he defeated compatriot Sanjay Jeeva to march into the men’s semi-finals today.

He took just 33 minutes to dispose of Sanjay 11-2, 11-6, 11-5 in the quarter-finals at the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch.

In tomorrow’s semi-finals, Ng will take on second seed Marwan Elshorbagy after the Egyptian dispatched Spain’s Iker Pajares 14-12, 11-2, 11-8.

Meanwhile, national women players S. Sivasangari and Rachel Arnold’s journey ended in the quarter-finals after losing to their Egyptian opponents.

Sivasangari went down 9-11, 6-11, 8-11 to third-seeded Rowan Elaraby, while Rachel lost 5-11, 6-11,11-9, 5-11 to second-seeded Amina Orfi.
