MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala climbed one spot back to No. 45 in the latest WTA official rankings on Monday as she gears up for the Stuttgart Open in Germany.
The Filipino netter faces world No. 25 Leylah Fernandez of Canada to open her campaign in the 500-tier tourney around late Tuesday night or Wednesday midnight in Manila.
Ranked No. 45 was Eala after her Miami Open campaign where she could not match her last year's semifinal finish, losing 270 points and dropping from a career-best No. 29 achieved on March 16.
Eala dipped one spot to No. 46 last week following a round of 16 exit at the Linz Open before climbing back to 45 this week with 1,285 points.
Eala switched places with Czech Marketa Vondrousova who was No. 45 last week and dropped one spot this time with 1,263 points.
