MANILA, Philippines —   Heartbreak on home soil.

Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala bowed to Camila Osorio of Colombia in a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 quarterfinal match in the 2026 Philippine Women’s Open on a jam-packed Thursday night at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Malate, Manila.

Meeting for the first time, the world No. 83 Colombian managed to steal the first frame after outsmarting the home town favorite, varying her shot with short ball hits and loaded forehand swings, 6-4.

In the second frame, Eala put up a fight after exchanging leads with the Colombian. However, the former bronze Olympics juniors bronze medalist kept her composure and took a 5-4 advantage.

The Colombian finished the match after a short ball swing that forced Eala to commit a net error, 6-4.
