NO team up yet for Filipina sensation Alex Eala and Filipino-American Desirae Krawczyk.
Eala and Krawczyk withdrew from the WTA 500 Tokyo Open doubles tournament on Monday.
The reason for their withdrawal had not been determined yet at press time, but Yulia Putintseva and Liudmila Samsonova replaced Eala and Krawczyk in the revised doubles main draw of the tournament.
Putintseva and Samsonova face the Taiwanese-Japanese duo of Chan Hao-Ching and Miyu Kato in the first round likely on Tuesday.
This left Eala participating only in the singles tournament where she is the No. 8 seed.
Eala was scheduled to face wildcard Mika Stojsavljevic of Great Britain on Monday at 4 p.m.
Filipino fans would have loved seeing Eala and Krawczyk competing together.
A 13-time doubles champ, Krawczyk entered the consciousness of Filipino tennis fans after an appearance on “The Players Box” podcast last March.
In the podcast, Krawczyk said that her Filipino mom, Maria, is an avid Eala fan.
The 32-year-old Krawczyk said that her mother planned on watching Eala at the Dubai Tennis Championships last February, almost forgetting that her daughter Desirae would be playing in doubles on the same date.
During the Indian Wells last March, Desirae shared that her mother planned on cooking pancit and lumpia for Alex.
