Alex Eala of the Philippines outplayed Mananchaya Sawangkaew of Thailand, 6-3, 6-2, to reach the semifinal round at the WTA 125 Birmingham Open early Saturday morning (Manila time) in Great Britain.
Eala, ranked 37th in the world and the top seed of the tournament, needed just one hour and 18 minutes to demolish her 173rd ranked Southeast Asian rival in her first grass court tournament of the 2026 season.
She will next face No. 132 Rabeka Masarova of Switzerland in the semifinal round.
