MANILA, Philippines – The easterlies will bring scattered rains in Mindanao and Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said while the southwest monsoon locally known as habagat has weakened, the easterlies – winds that pass Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather – resurfaced and is affecting many parts of the country.
The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi, Pagasa said.
The easterlies will also affect Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao where partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have similar weather pattern but due to localized thunderstorms.
