Fair weather likely in most parts of PH in 24 hours

MANILA, Philippines – Except for isolated and scattered rain, most areas in the country would be experiencing fair weather over the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.

Also, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has not monitored any weather disturbance forming inside or outside the archipelago’s area of responsibility in the coming days, weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

While the southwest monsoon, locally known as ‘habagat,’ has weakened, another weather system, the easterlies – warm, humid winds that pass through the Pacific Ocean – has resurfaced and is affecting many parts of the country.

The easterly winds have been bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, and Tawi-tawi, according to the Pagasa forecaster.

Expected to last for the next three days, the easterlies have also been affecting Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao, bringing partly cloudy to overcast skies and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country would be experiencing a similar weather pattern, with localized thunderstorms, the state-run weather agency said.
