KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission (EC) has received the official notice of the dissolution of the 16th Sabah State Legislative Assembly from Speaker Datuk Seri Panglima Kadzim M. Yahya on Tuesday, paving the way for fresh state elections.
In a statement on Wednesday, EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said the election must be held within 60 days from the date of dissolution, as provided under Article 21(4) of the Sabah State Constitution.
He said the EC will hold a special meeting on Oct 16 to discuss key dates and related matters concerning the 17th Sabah state election.
