A team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out raids on the shop and residence of goldsmith Kulwant Singh and his son Bikram Singh Bunty here on Monday. The action is said to have been initiated on suspicion of a large financial transaction involving the goldsmith.
Earlier, the ED had conducted a raid on the premises of a relative of Kulwant Singh residing in Rajouri Garden, Delhi, and the Tarn Taran raids are being viewed as part of the same chain of investigations. The ED team also requisitioned a currency-counting machine from a local bank.
The team arrived at around 9 am, and the operation was still underway at the time of reporting. Family members were questioned during the raid.
DSP (City) Sukhbir Singh confirmed the raid.
