KUALA LUMPUR – Ed Sheeran, the globally renowned UK singer-songwriter, has acquired a minority stake in Premier League club Ipswich Town, marking a significant moment for the lifelong fan of the “Tractor Boys.”

Sheeran, who has supported the club since childhood, purchased a 1.4% stake in the newly promoted side but emphasised that his role would be purely passive.

In an official statement, Ipswich Town confirmed that the 33-year-old celebrity would have long-term use of an executive box at Portman Road, but would not be joining the club’s board.

The singer, who has also been the club’s main shirt sponsor since 2021, expressed his excitement over the investment.

“It’s any football fan’s dream to be an owner in the club they support, and I feel so grateful for the opportunity.

“I’ve lived in Suffolk since I was 3, and although I have travelled the world and sometimes feel like an outsider in big cities, Suffolk and Ipswich have always made me feel part of a community and protected.

“It’s such a joy to be a fan of Ipswich town. There are ups and downs, but football is about taking the highs with the lows,” he posted on Instagram.

Ipswich chairman Mark Ashton praised Sheeran’s ongoing support, describing it as “remarkable” and highlighting the global exposure the club has received through its association with the artist.
