MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to reopen the rehabilitated southbound section of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) from Boni Avenue to Guadalupe at 5 a.m. on Monday, November 2.
Public Works Secretary Giovanni Lopez said on Sunday that he will conduct an overnight inspection of the completed section prior to its reopening.
The reopening marks another milestone in the second phase of the EDSA rehabilitation project, which aims to improve the condition of the capital's busiest thoroughfare, provide a smoother ride for motorists and make the highway more commuter-friendly.
The latest round of repairs covered three southbound sections, including the stretch from the NEPA Q-Mart Bus Station, past the EDSA Kamuning Flyover, the EDSA Shaw underpass to Boni Avenue; and Boni Avenue to Guadalupe.
The DPWH scheduled the work from October 30 to November 2, with activities including breaking up damaged pavement, debris hauling, base preparation, installation of reinforcing steel bars, concrete pouring, sealant application and curing.
Temporary lane closures were implemented during construction, while the remaining lanes were kept open to motorists.
