SANDAKAN: Education must remain the cornerstone of progress for every community, said Batu Sapi Member of Parliament Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan on Friday.

He said continuous efforts were being made to ensure that children in Batu Sapi have access to proper education and are not left behind.

Khairul, who is also Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, said this after officiating the Excellent Student Incentive Award Ceremony for SPM and STPM 2024 recipients at SK Sung Siew’s open hall.

A total of 138 students, including 91 SPM and 47 STPM achievers from the Batu Sapi constituency, received awards under the programme jointly organised by the Batu Sapi Parliamentary Service Centre and Yayasan Bank Rakyat.

He said the annual initiative, now in its fourth year, aims to encourage more local students to excel academically, with plans to increase the incentives for top achievers next year.
