EFL fixtures: West Ham to face Burnley in Championship opener after Premier League relegation

  • The English Football League (EFL) fixtures for the 2026-27 season have been released, with the opening weekend scheduled from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16, involving all 72 clubs across the three divisions.
  • The Championship season will kick off with relegated Wolves hosting Blackburn Rovers at Molineux on Friday, August 14, at 8pm, marking Wolves' return to the second tier since 2018 under new boss Cesar Peixoto.
  • Other significant Championship opening fixtures include relegated West Ham United clashing with Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, Southampton beginning their campaign on Sunday, and a Welsh derby between promoted Cardiff City and Wrexham on Monday.
  • Leagues One and Two will commence on Saturday, August 15; Leicester City, a decade after winning the Premier League, will start their League One journey at Notts County, while Bromley will make their third-tier debut at Barnsley.
