SANDAKAN: Eight motorcycles were destroyed in a fire involving a motorcycle workshop on Jalan Old Slipway, Friday.

Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief PKPgB Severinus Nidzam @ Sainkui said they rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 6 pm.

“The fire involved a permanent-type motorcycle workshop measuring 25 x60 feet and 85 percent burned.

“The fire also destroyed eight motorcycles in the shop,” he said.

The swift action by the firemen stopped the fire from spreading to nearby shops and residences.

The operation ended at 7.15 pm.

No casualties were reported. The cause and losses are still under investigation.
