KINABATANGAN: Andi Abdul Ghani, animation director of the hit series Ejen Ali, has died after jumping into the Kinabatangan River when the car driven by his wife skidded near Kampung Batu Puteh.

Kinabatangan District Police Chief Superintendent D. Ravi said the 42-year-old from Tawau exited their Perodua Ativa and leapt into the river after the crash on Tuesday.

His body was recovered the following morning, about five metres from where he went missing.

The tragedy came just days after Andi’s marriage on September 16.

Wau Animation confirmed his death in a statement, paying tribute to him as a key figure behind the success of the Ejen Ali franchise.
