
TAWAU: An elderly couple survived after the Proton Saga they were in plunged into a drain on Jalan Chong Thien Vun, on Wednesday.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief (BBP) Jemishin Ujin, said the victims, aged 79 and 78, were not injured and were safely extricated by the team.
AdvertisementHe said that a team of eight personnel with two vehicles rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 8.47am via MERS999.
“The Proton Saga, believed to have skidded, fell into the drain. Both victims were rescued by the fire and rescue team,” he said in a statement.

Read more Jemishin said the elderly couple were sent to Tawau Hospital in an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle for further medical examination.
The operation ended at 9.07am after ensuring that there were no further hazards at the scene.
