
KIULU: An elderly man, Bayang Sampai, 73, was found drowned yesterday after attempting to cross Sungai Kimulau in Kampung Gaya Ratau Nulu, here.
The victim’s body was discovered by his nephew around 3.30pm, not far from the scene, and later confirmed deceased.
AdvertisementTuaran district police chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin said they received a report at 5.22pm and deployed a team to investigate the scene.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim slipped and was swept away by strong currents while crossing the river on his way home from the farm, despite being warned by his two children.
