KOTA MARUDU: The body of an elderly man reported missing in Kampung Tambun six days ago was found by a riverbank on Saturday evening.

The victim, identified as Pencen Gundiar @ Pyron, 69, was discovered by a member of the public at around 5.35pm, approximately two kilometres from the location where he was last reported missing.

Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Station Chief Hasbi Hajat said the victim was believed to have fallen into the river while crossing a bridge under construction at about 4am on Monday.

According to Hasbi, their control room received an emergency call from the Kota Marudu District Police Headquarters on Saturday morning, alerting them to a missing person feared to have fallen into the river.
