
Search and rescue operations resume for 78-year-old man who disappeared after entering an oil palm plantation in Palong, Jempol.
JEMPOL: An elderly man has been reported missing in an oil palm plantation in Palong, near here, since yesterday.
Deputy Fire Supt II Mohd Jefri Jamal said Abdullah Alias, 78, failed to return home after entering the plantation yesterday evening, but his motorcycle remained at the scene.
“Search and rescue operations resumed at 8.45 this morning. The operations centre has also called in three members of the Special Operations, Tactical and Rescue Team of Malaysia (STORM) to assist.
“The victim left home at 5 pm and was reported missing about an hour later. Family members searched the plantation until 7 pm but found only his motorcycle,” he said in a statement here today.
He added that the search and rescue across the 4.04-hectare plantation involves four members of the Palong Voluntary Fire Brigade, three police officers and eight civilians.
