An 82-year-old woman and her 58-year-old son perished in a fire at the Dato Senu PPR in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, early Thursday morning.

KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly woman and her son died in a fire at an apartment in the Dato Senu People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Sentul early Thursday.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre received an emergency call at 7.18 am.

The victims, an 82-year-old woman and her 58-year-old son, were found deceased in the unit’s toilet, confirmed by the Ministry of Health.

The blaze caused 40% damage to the residential unit.

Firefighting operations involved six hose lines deployed from the Sentul and Gombak Selatan Fire and Rescue Stations.

The fire was fully extinguished by 8.27 am, with the cause still under investigation.
