A TRAGIC fire claimed the lives of an elderly woman and her adult son at a PPR Sentul Murni flat on Jalan Dato’ Senu in Kuala Lumpur earlier today.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) confirmed that the victims, aged 82 and 58, were discovered in the bathroom and pronounced dead by the Ministry of Health.

The Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre received an emergency call at 7.18 a.m., prompting deployment of personnel from the Sentul Fire and Rescue Station, with additional support from the Gombak Selatan station.

“Upon arrival, the fire involved a 20 by 20 feet single-family residence,” JBPM said. “Firefighting operations were carried out using six hose lines connected to the fire engine pumps to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring units.”

Firefighters brought the fire under control by 7.51 a.m., with preliminary assessments indicating approximately 40 per cent of the property had been damaged.

The blaze was fully extinguished at 8.27 a.m., after which overhaul operations were conducted to ensure no residual hotspots remained.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by authorities. - December 26, 2025
