KENINGAU: A subcontracting company was fined RM15,000 by the Sessions Court here after pleading guilty to working near Sabah Electricity (SE) electrical installations without permission, causing an electrical shock accident that killed one worker and injured another.

Juara Hartawan Sdn Bhd pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Dr Nur Ashikin Mokhtar.
According to the charge, the company carried out solar street light pole installation work near SE overhead electricity lines without obtaining the required permission, leading to the electrical shock accident.
The offence was committed at about 11.40 am on July 21, 2026, at Kampung Malinja 3, Nabawan.
The company was charged under subsection 55(1) of the Electricity Supply Enactment 2024, which provides for a fine of up to RM300,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
The prosecution was conducted by Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) legal officer Nureen Natasha Mohd Raffie.
ECoS said it would continue enforcement and prosecution against parties violating the law to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
