SOOK: Sook assemblyman Datuk Ellron Angin, has reaffirmed his commitment to remain with the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government, stressing that the decision was made to safeguard ongoing development and ensure the people’s voices continue to be heard at the state level.
He said his decision followed careful consideration from various perspectives, consultation with grassroots leaders, and reflection on Sook’s future.
“My decision is not based on personal interest but on the need to ensure that development in Sook continues and that the people’s welfare is not disrupted,” he said during the “Bicara Pemimpin dan Amanat Datuk Ellron” at Kampung Biah Tengah, recently.
Ellron said the GRS government has proven its stability and concern for the people through initiatives outlined in Budget 2025, including RM300 monthly cash assistance, the SMJ Housing Programme, poverty eradication efforts, and education aid for schoolchildren.
“These are tangible examples of a government that works for the people,” he added.
He also highlighted GRS’s consistent efforts in upholding Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), citing several achievements such as recognition of state technical departments like JKR and JPS, the handover of gas regulatory control to Sabah, amendments to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia Act with a special RM600 million allocation, and greater devolution of powers in environmental and labour matters.
“This struggle is not about politics, but about building a more sovereign and self-reliant Sabah,” he said, adding that he does not want political instability to jeopardise essential development projects such as roads, water and electricity supply, and welfare programmes in Sook.
Ellron said political stability is the foundation of progress, as a stable government enables more projects to be implemented. With his position in the government, he vowed to continue voicing the needs and aspirations of the people of Sook at the state level.
“I call on everyone to remain united and steadfast for the love of Sook. Don’t be easily swayed by rumours or provocations — judge matters with your heart, not emotions,” Ellron urged.
He reiterated that remaining with GRS is the best course for ensuring Sook’s continued growth, protecting its people, and securing a better future for the next generation.
