Emma Raducanu ready for tennis return after two-month absence due to illness

  • Emma Raducanu is scheduled to make her return to competitive tennis at the Internationaux de Strasbourg next week, marking her first tournament appearance since Indian Wells in March.
  • The British No 1 has been recovering from a post-viral illness since February, which led to her withdrawal from four consecutive tournaments, including the Italian Open.
  • By accepting a wild card entry into the Strasbourg event, the 23-year-old will gain valuable match practice on clay courts ahead of the French Open, which begins on 24 May.
  • Raducanu, who also played in Strasbourg last year, stated she is not yet “100 per cent” recovered but feels she has “turned a corner” and is feeling much better on court.
  • Her prolonged absence from the tour has caused a decline in her world ranking, meaning she will not be seeded for Roland Garros, and she is also currently without a coach.
