State government employees recruited after 2004, frustrated with repeated delays, staged a protest here today demanding the restoration of the old pension scheme.
The demonstration was led by leaders of the Old Pension Bahali Sangharsh Committee Punjab, CPF Employees Union and Old Pension Pratipati Morcha, including Jarnail Singh Patti, Baljit Singh Tom, Kulwinder Singh, Prabhjot Singh Gohalwar and Sarabjit Singh. Protesters gathered under the banner of the Old Pension Bahali Restoration Joint Forum, sounding horns to voice their anger against the government.
Speakers at the protest accused the government of failing to implement the notification issued on 18 November 2022 regarding pension restoration. They said employees were compelled to “wake up” the authorities through today’s action.
Leaders warned that if their demand is not met, a state-level convention will be held in Moga on July 4. Furthermore, they announced plans for a grand rally at Satoj village on August 23, organised by the employees’ joint forum, with preparations already underway.
