Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has backed England to win the World Cup after the squad held their first training session in Miami.

Mainoo was asked about England’s chances following the session in the United States and gave a confident response.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Mainoo said: “England can 100% win the World Cup.”

Mainoo is part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad as preparations continue ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The Manchester United midfielder’s comments came after England trained in Miami, with the squad now stepping up their work before the start of the competition.

England are among the nations expected to compete deep into the tournament, and Mainoo has made clear that belief is high inside the camp.

England begin Miami preparations before World Cup campaign

England’s Miami camp has been designed to help the players prepare for the conditions they are expected to face during the World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel has spoken about the need for England to adapt to heat and humidity, with Team GB and international specialists helping the national team prepare for the tournament conditions.

England trained in hot conditions during their first session in the United States, with reports stating the temperature reached 32C in Miami.

The Three Lions are also due to face New Zealand and Costa Rica in warm-up matches before beginning their World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 17.

Mainoo looking to play his part for England

Mainoo’s confidence comes as England continue their final preparations under Tuchel.

The Manchester United midfielder has already shown he can handle major international occasions, and his latest comments underline the belief within the squad before the tournament begins.
