- England cricket legend James Anderson will not be offered a new contract by Lancashire for the 2027 season, leaving his playing future in major doubt.
- The decision comes as Lancashire undergoes a hard reset under new leadership following their worst County Championship campaign since 1984.
- Despite the club's poor season, the 44-year-old excelled individually, taking 50 wickets at an average of 17 in Division Two.
- Reports suggest Anderson is expected to retire from professional cricket rather than seek a move to a rival county.
- Anderson made his Lancashire debut in 2002 and retired from international cricket in 2024 as England's all-time leading Test wicket-taker with 704 wickets.
