Thomas Tuchel has left Cole Palmer out his England squad while Jobe Bellingham, the brother of Jude Bellingham, has received his first senior call-up.
Tuchel was critical of Palmer for withdrawing from September’s squad due to injury, with the England manager saying the Chelsea star missed “too many camps with injuries”. Palmer did not miss any games for Chelsea following the international break, but was sent off against Tottenham, and the 24-year-old has now been left out for the Nations League games against Croatia and Spain as the Three Lions aim to book their place in the quarter-finals.
Speaking at a press conference at Wembley, Tuchel explained: “It counts when you are in camp and I just said it last time, he [Palmer] misses too many opportunities to impress. It was a long camp. It was two-and-a-half weeks and the players and the boys who were in camp built something extraordinary throughout these weeks. That's why the credit goes to them. The trust is for them. If you are in camp, this is your chance to impress. So it's not personal.”
Elsewhere, Jobe Bellingham, 21, joins brother Jude in Tuchel’s squad after impressing for Borussia Dortmund this season, while there is also a first-time call-up for Fulham midfielder Josh King, 19. Trent Alexander-Arnold keeps his place despite his lack of minutes for Real Madrid while Arsenal right back Ben White also returns following injury, but there is no place for winger Noni Madueke despite the absence of Bukayo Saka due to injury.
England are third in Group A3 after four games, having won three and lost one, to Spain at Wembley. They host Croatia on Thursday before travelling to Madrid to take on Spain on Sunday, and a point from either of those two games would be enough to qualify for the knockout rounds in March.

Thomas Tuchel hands Jobe Bellingham chance to carve his own path as an England star

MLS is absent
12:40 , Mike JonesMyles Lewis-Skelly is absent for England’s match against Croatia due to suspension.
Thomas Tuchel addressed this saying: “We have a slight issue in central midfield because Alex Scott is not ready. Unfortunately he picked up an injury in the last camp and can’t be with us.
“Myles, who featured in all four matches, picked up a yellow card and is suspended for the Croatia match and it leaves us a little bit short in central midfield, especially for the first match.
“(Under-21s boss) Lee Carsley has spoken highly of Jobe for weeks and months that if there is a spot and possibility to join and make an impression in the first team.
“He had good matches, and he is on a good run of form in Dortmund, so he deserves to be with us.”
England squad highlights
12:30 , Mike JonesJobe Bellingham and Josh King have been included in the final England squad of the year, but Thomas Tuchel has overlooked Cole Palmer and Kobbie Mainoo for November’s internationals.
Djed Spence and Ben White were brought into a 25-man squad that defender Nico O’Reilly has dropped out of.
Declan Rice returns after injury but Bukayo Saka is absent with a thigh injury and Tuchel decided not to bring in Noni Madueke as his Arsenal team-mate’s replacement.
There was no place for World Cup squad members Dean Henderson, Dan Burn and Jordan Henderson after missing the last camp.
Alex Scott, Marcus Rashford and John Stones are ruled out of this meet up through injury, as are Tino Livramento, Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah.

Thoughts on the squad?
England will play the final two matches of their Nations League group stage in this break.
First up is Croatia on Thursday 12 November before a blockbuster clash against Spain on Sunday November 15.
Tuchel on Alexander-Arnold
12:11 , Mike JonesThe England boss ended his press conference by answering a question on right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
He said: "He was very good in the last camp and in the games he played, and he deserved to come back.
"The competition is on, as always. The door is always open. He competes with Jarell [Quansah] and Ben [White] for the right-back position."
England entering a new phase under Tuchel
12:04 , Mike JonesThomas Tuchel was asked about the inclusion of younger players such as Jobe Bellingham and Josh King and whether that signals a new phase for the team.
"I think we did naturally. We were a little bit forced. I was a bit concerned before the last camp because we missed Dean Henderson, John Stones, Dan Burn, Jordan Henderson, Reece James - players who were really responsible for the attitude and the energy at the World Cup and played a huge part in the standards throughout the camp,” Tuchel explained.
"I was a bit worried that we missed so many of them but the group found a new way. They found new leadership, a new way to engage with each other. We built another camp with a good atmosphere, new voices to set the standards.
"Now we have more choices and I had to give Dan Burn, Jordan Henderson, Dean Henderson difficult phonecalls. I am very aware of what they did for us and they built a very strong foundation on which these players now are benefitting from.
"Naturally, we went forward. But we always want to go forward and embrace change as something positive. It does not mean the door is closed for these kinds of players. But we decided to give this group kind of a second push."
Thomas Tuchel explains Cole Palmer omission: ‘He misses too many opportunities’
11:58 , Jamie BraidwoodThe England manager has opted to ‘trust’ the players who impressed him in the last squad, while also offering first-time call-ups to Josh King and Jobe Bellingham.

Incredible achievement for Bellingham brothers
11:50 , Mike JonesOn Jobe Bellingham’s call up, Tuchel said: "It's an incredible achievement for the brothers and the family to be both nominated for the national team, which is an incredible story in itself.
“I was very happy to give him the call-up and I saw his excitement straight away in his smile. He is a very open and calm personality so it was a very nice phone call, of course, because it was very good news.
"He is one of five players for the central midfield. He is a more defensive player than his brother Jude. Good on the ball, good physique, very physical player who can keep possession. Now it is up to him to impress."
Tuchel aiming for top spot
11:46 , Mike Jones“Me personally, I’m targeting top spot and I would be very surprised if my group doesn’t.
“This is clearly the target, we want to have a final in Spain because we want to have these pressure moments and these matches when we play for something.
“We want to play under pressure and in the big occasions. We want to use the Nations League for exactly that to be prepared in the best possible way for the Euros.
“For me, Croatia is a crucial match to win especially after the result we got. We got a deserved result [7-0 in Croatia] but it was kind of a freak result that does not reflect the quality of Croatia in general.
“It reflected the way the match went last time but we have to forget that result and remember what we put in and what quality we put in and what effort we top.
“We need another top performance because Croatia showed an excellent response against Spain straight after.”
Tuchel has a standby list in case of withdrawals
11:42 , Mike Jones"I have little a standby list and the clubs and the players know it, players who cover us on a lot of positions,” Tuchel explained.
"But we have 22 outfield players so this should not affect us. It is a short camp and we should be fine number-wise.
"It is always about the ones who are in camp, who don't withdraw and walk the talk, come to camp and show that it matters.
"I think that [message] is naturally coming through. That was always the message very, very early since we took charge that is matters if you are in camp and what you do in camp.
"The last camp was an excellent one and the trust and belief is in the players who were there."
Dewsbury-Hall close to a call up
11:39 , Mike JonesThomas Tuchel says that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is close to a call up.
"He is close. A very good player, a very good season,” he explained.
“I see him, in the way we play now, I don't see him in central midfield - more as an eight or a 10, in the finishing part of the game.
"The competition is very, very high in our squad in this position.
"As you know he was in our squad of 55 [for the World Cup]. He is a standout player for Everton. He was very close."
Tuchel not happy about Ben White boos
11:35 , Mike JonesWhen Ben White made his return to the England team in the March camp, some England fans booed him due to the nature of his leaving the 2022 World Cup squad under Gareth Southgate.
Tuchel was asked about the reception to White from the fans and said.
“We were not happy about this. We could understand the disappointment of the fans, of course, with what happened before but I think if this is expressed now this should be a closed book.
“I think everyone could see the investment of Ben and the quality of Ben and how he presented himself in the March camp. He did excellent, scored for us and conceded a penalty. It was very eventful for him.
“Not so easy to come back but when I speak to him I always feel the hunger and excitement. He missed the last camp but is a standout player for Arsenal.”
Tuchel speaks out on Mainoo omission
11:31 , Mike Jones"I think Kobbie had a difficult spell with his team and his club and missed a lot, a lot of matches,” Tuchel said.
“And in the meantime it was Jobe [Bellingham] who impressed in the same level of time.
"That is what we want. The door is always open for younger ones to overtake and make their mark. That’s a sign of the competition in central midfield.”
Rogers and Ngumoha on the right side
11:29 , Mike Jones“I think it’s Morgan Rogers for us and it will be Rio [Ngumoha] on the side. He’s played there for Liverpool and impressed in the last camp.
“Josh King can maybe play there, we will try this and Morgan Gibbs-White can play there so we need runners there.
“We have options, it’s a close call and a difficult decision not to bring Noni [Madueke] because he got his minutes after Bukayo [Saka] was injured and he got some goals lately but also there we stick with the group we had and give them our trust.”
A final word on Palmer
11:25 , Mike JonesThese media press conferences tend to dart around in terms of topics and Tuchel is once again asked about Palmer and whether a disrupted season with managerial appointments affected his chances.
Tuchel responded: “The door is always open, nothing has changed but he decided to do this camp without him.”
'An incredible achievement'
11:22 , Mike JonesThomas Tuchel was asked about Harry Kane winning the Ballon d’Or and he called it an incredible achievement for his captain.
"Just an incredible achievement that these two occasions come together one after the other and we are able to witness this.
"He wins the Ballon d'Or, deservedly so, and then gets the all-time record for England with 126 appearances in his next England game.
“An incredible achievement which just underlines his incredible status and his demeanour and his attitude. He is our captain and we cannot find a better frame to celebrate him and his achievement.
"It's an important match for us. It is a crucial match for us, we are desperate to win this match [versus Croatia] to set up a final in Spain after.
"It will be a deserved frame and a deserved occasion to celebrate an extraordinary player."
Palmer 'misses too many opportunities' says Tuchel
11:18 , Mike Jones“Everyone is desperate to play for England and Cole is no exception.
“We’re speaking now about a player who is not in camp and on the other hand it counts when you are in camp. I said it last time, he misses too many opportunities to impress.
“It was a long camp, it was two and a half weeks and the players who were here built something extraordinary in these two and a half weeks. That’s why the credit goes to them and the trust goes to them.
“If you are in camp this is your chance to impress. It’s not personal and we will never assume that Cole is not in the mindset to come and is desperate to play for his country but the competition is on. The players who were in camp did an amazing job and kept their place.”
More from Tuchel on Josh King's call up
11:14 , Mike Jones“He’s just fantastic and he made a good impression in the US and made a good start to the season.
“Now he gives us a bit of flexibility. We decided to nominate 22 outfield players to give us a bit of flexibility in training and he, if you want to call it, is the extra player up front.
“A young player, exciting player, flexible player. I want to see if he can give us alternatives on the wing but he can for sure play on the No.10 and on the No.9.
“It’s the attitude, the smile, the positivity and he’s difficult to defend so hopefully he can bring a little spark to camp.”
Tuchel on Jobe Bellingham's call up
11:10 , Mike Jones“First of all, Lee [Carsley U21s head coach] is speaking very, very highly of him. In the under-21s he’s the standout player since a long time now.
“I think the door should always be open for the pathway and for special performances over a long period of time, that’s what Jobe has done.
“On top of it he has found his way and found his rhythm with Dortmund, an excellent start to the season. He’s a regular starter there and very influential and there’s an opportunity.
“There is an opportunity coming through the pathway, coming on his own merit, Jobe deserves to make an impressive for us. We’re happy to have him in camp and see what he can do for us.”
Josh King called up for versatility
11:07 , Mike Jones“We have Josh King as a new player in there,” Tuchel said of handing a first senior call up to the Fulham man.
“I want to see him on both wings. An extra player that we use in training numbers and to cover all eventualities.
“Josh can play all four positions and that’s basically the reason.”
Tuchel addresses Palmer omission
11:05 , Mike JonesThe England manager said: “It’s enough of No.10s and we stick to the guys who were in camp because camp was excellent and we were happy with the two and a half weeks we had together.
“The impact of all the players was immense throughout the whole camp and that’s why we stick, mainly, with the group and we stick with mainly the offensive players.”
'We stick with the group'
11:02 , Mike JonesTuchel’s answer to leaving Palmer out is to say he wanted to stick with the players who did well in the last camp.
Josh King’s inclusion and versatility to play in four roles, according to Tuchel, explains his inclusion in the squad.
Thomas Tuchel press conference
11:00 , Mike JonesOkay then, it’s time to hear from the England boss about his selections.
He’s addressing the media and the first question is about the omission of Cole Palmer.
Jobe Bellingham 'deserves' senior call up
10:54 , Mike JonesThomas Tuchel has been speaking on the FA’s own channels ahead of his chat with the media at 11am.
He touched on Jobe Bellingham’s call up and revealed the England U21 head coach, and former interim for the men’s team, Lee Carsley has been praising Jobe "for weeks and months".
Carsley said that Jobe is deserving of a spot in the senior squad if one was available.
We’ll have more of Tuchel’s thoughts shortly.
Foden misses out again
10:49 , Mike JonesPerhaps one of the more reasonable omissions from Thomas Tuchel is that of Man City’s Phil Foden.
Foden is slowly rediscovering his form for City but he hasn’t been setting the world alight as he has previously done.
With five No.10s already included and Cole Palmer, arguably in better form, also left out Foden’s exclusion is far from surprising.
Brothers Bellingham
10:43 , Mike JonesWill we see a pair of brothers in the same England line-up again?
The last time that happened was Phil and Gary Neville but with Jobe Bellingham, England U21’s captain, receiving his first senior call up there is a possibility we could see it again.
His older brother Jude Bellingham is the second name on the teamsheet after Harry Kane and this camp sets up the possibility that the brothers Bellingham line-up alongside each other for England.
Call ups for World Cup trainees
10:36 , Mike JonesBefore the World Cup began Thomas Tuchel took an extended squad to America with him.
Four players were included in that bigger squad but not chosen to play in the tournament.
Three of the four have now been called up to the national team. They are:
Alex Scott, Rio Ngumoha and Josh King.
Only Ethan Nwaneri hasn't been called up since then and he is knocking on the door.
Ngumoha and King are included in this squad while Scott featured in the previous one.
Big questions for Tuchel
10:29 , Mike JonesWhat are the big questions that will be asked of the England manager when he speaks to the media at 11am?
Why was Cole Palmer left out? Is perhaps the big one.
Who will play as the right-sided attacker? Is probably another.
There is also a matter of who will start at right-back and whether Tuchel will hand debuts to the likes of Josh King and Jobe Bellingham.
Their inclusions will be asked about as well of course.
No Saka or Madueke
10:23 , Mike JonesAnother surprising omission is that of Noni Madueke.
With Bukayo Saka injured there seemed to be a space available for a right winger and Madueke would have fit the bill.
As it stands the squad feels a little unbalanced in that area though Rio Ngumoha can play there.
Another option would be to start either Ebere Eze on the right or perhaps Josh King.
These are questions that Tuchel will no doubt be asked at his press conference shortly.
Tuchel's talking points
10:17 , Lawrence Ostlere, at Wembley StadiumHello from Wembley, where Thomas Tuchel has served up more talking points than we might have expected this morning.
“Great news for Josh King, who has made such a great start to the season at Fulham, and Jobe Bellingham enjoys a promotion from his role as U21 captain.
“But perhaps just as intriguing are the notable omissions. Noni Madueke is out despite being in some form – does that mean he’s carrying an injury?
“Cole Palmer has not been recalled after withdrawing from September’s squad. Is that down to more “load management”, or is Tuchel sending out a message about availability?
“We will get the chance to ask him in his press conference at 11am.”
Ben White returns
10:16 , Mike JonesThomas Tuchel hasn’t yet nailed down a right-back for his team and he has given himself another option in this camp.
That is in the form of Ben White as the Arsenal defender has been recalled.
Other players fighting for the spot in this camp are Trent Alexander-Arnold, Djed Spence and Jarrell Quansah.
Five No.10s selected
10:12 , Mike JonesThomas Tuchel has selected five players who play at No.10 for their clubs.
Those include Morgan Rogers and Jude Bellingham who were both expected to be included and have excelled on the international stage.
The others are Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
The fifth No.10 is Fulham’s Josh King who travelled with the squad before the World Cup and now receives a full call up.
Who has been excluded?
10:09 , Mike JonesSome players who were included in the September squad have been omitted from this one.
Those players include Tino Livramento, Trevoh Chalobah, Nico O’Reilly, Cole Palmer, Alex Scott, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka.
A few of those have injury niggles and are unfit but their exclusions mean there are places for others to step up.
Jobe Bellingham and Josh King called up
10:07 , Mike JonesAway from Cole Palmer’s exclusion the big news is that Fulham midfielder Josh King has been called up to the squad as has Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham.
Jobe is the younger brother to England star Jude Bellingham.

10:04 , Mike JonesGoalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Jason Steele, James Trafford.
Defenders: Jarrad Branthwaite, Marc Guehi, Lewis Hall, Ezri Konsa, Jarell Quansah, Djed Spence, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben White.
Midfielders: Elliot Anderson, Jobe Bellingham, Jude Bellingham, James Garner, Josh King, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Declan Rice.
Forwards: Harry Kane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Eberechi Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Gordon, Rio Ngumoha, Morgan Rogers

10:01 , Mike JonesThe big news is that Cole Palmer is out!
There’s no recall for the Chelsea playmaker despite his exceptional recent form.
Fulham midfielder Josh King is also included. Full squad to be revealed shortly...

England squad announcement
09:56 , Mike JonesOkay, it’s almost time for the squad for the November international break to drop.
The players who have been called up will be announced at 10am before Thomas Tuchel speaks to the media an hour later to explain his selections.
Who will make the squad?
Harry Kane opens up on whether he might return to the Premier League after winning Ballon d’Or
09:52 , Lawrence OstlereThe England captain still trails Alan Shearer’s long-standing Premier League goal record by 47 goals.
Harry Kane opens up on future Premier League return after winning the Ballon d’Or
Alexander-Arnold given another chance?
09:44 , Mike JonesTrent Alexander-Arnold’s England career is yet to fully ignite and the Real Madrid right-back has not been able to cement his place in the squad and the team.
This camp presents another opportunity for him if Tuchel calls him up again.
But, Alexander-Arnold is likely to face competition from Djed Spence who is fit again having started the last two games for Inter Milan and possibly Ben White.
The Arsenal defender is pushing for a recall but will Tuchel prefer him to Alexander-Arnold?
Will Rashford make the squad?
09:35 , Mike JonesAnthony Gordon looks to have secured the starting place on England’s left wing but there is a place available as his back-up.
That job was most recently filled by Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford but the winger has not played since mid-October and is nursing a hip injury.
"Marcus, we will just have to see day-by-day how he keeps improving," said Michael Carrick on Monday before United’s victory over Roma.
Those signs would point to Rashford’s omission and leave the door open to other options.
Morgan Gibbs-White or Phil Foden on the left perhaps?
Mainoo battling for midfield spot
09:28 , Lawrence OstlereKobbie Mainoo was the only player included in the World Cup squad not to play a minute of football in the summer, with injury ruling him out of his best opportunity in the third-place play-off against France.
After a torrid start to the season at Old Trafford, will he be in Tuchel’s squad this morning?
Kane signs new contract at Bayern
09:21 , Lawrence OstlereBallon d'Or winner Harry Kane has signed a contract extension with Bayern Munich until the end of June 2029, the Bundesliga club said on Thursday, in a move underlining its long-term ambitions, especially for the Champions League.
The England captain joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 and has since helped the German side win two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and two German Super Cups.
The 33-year-old striker has scored 156 goals in 161 appearances in all competitions for Bayern and capped his prolific spell in Munich by winning the Ballon d'Or last week.
He was the first Englishman to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001.
"I feel right at home at FC Bayern," Kane said. "I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager."
"I know we will be challenging for Champions League titles," Kane told a press conference.
"If I did not believe we had a chance for the big trophies, I would look at a different avenue to push myself."
Madueke recalled?
09:14 , Mike JonesAnother possible inclusion in this camp is Arsenal’s Noni Madueke.
Not only has been excelling for his club in recents weeks but an injury to Bukayo Saka means the winger will be out of action until at least December.
That opens up a spot on the right wing and Madueke, Saka’s understudy at Arsenal, seems primed to take it.
England's Nations League results
09:07 , Mike JonesThis camp will decide if England qualify for the next stage of the Nations League or not and there is a chance that they can finish on top of Group C.
In the previous September/October camp the Three Lions played four times.
They lost 2-3 to Spain in their opening match before impressive wins over Czechia (0-2 and 3-0) as well as an outstanding 7-0 demolition of Croatia away from home.
In this camp, Tuchel’s team will take on Croatia at Wembley before a potential table-topping decider with Spain at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
What did Tuchel say about Palmer?
09:00 , Mike JonesWhen Cole Palmer dropped out of the previous England camp to manage his workload Thomas Tuchel has vocal in his disappointment.
Of the Chelsea playmaker he said: "For sure it's a missed opportunity [for Palmer].
"It's another missed opportunity. He misses too many opportunities, and I don't blame him for it. It's just the fact.
"If you're not in camp, there's a next level to impress that you cannot achieve because you only can do it when you're actually with me on the pitch and with us on the pitch so, yeah, it is a missed opportunity."
Will there be any surprise inclusions?
08:52 , Mike JonesWhat can we expect from today’s squad announcement? A similar selection to the September squad is probably the most likely with maybe one or two tweaks.
Cole Palmer has certainly pushed his case but his withdrawal from the previous squad didn’t land well with Thomas Tuchel.
Is there a possible return for Phil Foden or for Crystal Palace duo Dean Henderson and Adam Wharton?
We’ll find out later this morning.
Ronaldo retires from international duty
08:45 , Lawrence OstlereOne man we won’t be seeing any more in the Nations League is Cristiano Ronaldo, after he retired from international football this week...

08:38 , Lawrence OstlereEngland’s dominant win over Czech Republic rounded off a positive international break – but Will Castle ponders whether anything has actually changed.
Here is Will’s analysis after the last international break:
England look like a team reborn in the Nations League. Does it matter?
When will the squad be announced?
08:31 , Lawrence OstlereThe squad is expected to be confirmed at 10am BST this morning ahead of the manager’s media duties.
Thomas Tuchel is then holding a press conference at around 11am.
England's squad last time out
08:23 , Lawrence OstlereThis was Tuchel’s September squad, although several players later withdrew through injury or high workloads, including Palmer and Declan Rice.
Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, James Trafford, Jason Steele
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tino Livramento, Jarrad Branthwaite, Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Jarell Quansah, Lewis Hall, Nico O’Reilly
Midfielders: Elliott Anderson, Jude Bellingham, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Alex Scott
Forwards: Harry Kane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Eberechi Eze, Anthony Gordon, Rio Ngumoha, Marcus Rashford, Morgan Rogers, Bukayo Saka
Tuchel selection dilemma
08:15 , Lawrence OstlerePerhaps the biggest question mark over this squad is what Thomas Tuchel does with Cole Palmer. The manager was critical of Palmer’s absence from the September internationals, saying Chelsea’s No 10 “misses too many camps”. Palmer hasn’t exactly sparkled for Chelsea in the intervening weeks, so will he earn another call-up from the manager or will he be left out, as he was this summer for the World Cup?
