England scrum half Alex Mitchell has been ruled out of the remaining two Six Nations matches due to a hamstring injury.
Mitchell sustained the injury during England's 42-21 defeat by Ireland on Saturday, lasting only 24 minutes.
He will miss the upcoming fixtures against Italy on 7 March and France a week later, which is a fresh blow for head coach Steve Borthwick.
Jack van Poortvliet, who replaced Mitchell against Ireland, is expected to start at scrum half, with Raffi Quirke called up to the squad.
Centre Ollie Lawrence is a doubt for the Italy match after receiving a knee injection, and eight other players have been released to their clubs.
