England enjoyed their Euro 2025 send-off as they beat Jamaica 7-0 at Leicester’s King Power Stadium, just six days before the opening game of their tournament defence against France in Switzerland.
Two goals from Ella Toone and a Lucy Bronze header put England three goals up before half-time, with Georgia Stanway, Alessia Russo, Aggie Beever-Jones and Beth Mead scoring after the break to complete the rout.
England boss Sarina Wiegman was also able to bring Lauren James off the bench for her first minutes since April, with the Chelsea forward completing the final half hour of the friendly after returning from a hamstring injury and setting up Russo’s fifth.
Opponents Jamaica were missing a number of key players, including captain and record scorer Khadija Shaw, and the visitors had an equaliser ruled out for a subjective offside decision when England only led 1-0.
France will be a completely different test on Saturday 5 July in Zurich but the Lionesses ensured they warmed up for the Euros with a confident display. Follow updates from England v Jamaica, below

Sarina Wiegman delighted with England performance ahead of Euros opener

Sarina Wiegman was impressed with England’s performance but knows there will be stronger challenges ahead after their dominant 7-0 win over Jamaica in their final game before the European Women’s Championship.
“We played a good game,” Wiegman said. “We were a lot in the final third, we scored seven goals which is really good, created a lot of chances and some moments could have been even more patient sometimes.
“But at the same time, scoring seven goals and more opportunities to score was really good.
“We know next week we have to take our game to the next level. But what we wanted to do was play a good game, entertain fans, getting ready for next week and getting everyone fit out of this game.
“It shows we have a good team and have many options and competition going on for positions. Today we had six different players score goals, which is nice going into the Euros and it shows the players can score goals.”

England ‘put on a show’ and send message to rivals in Euro 2025 send-off

There were fireworks over Leicester. The Lionesses will hope they seen more over Basel in four weeks’ time. The tests will only get tougher, starting against France in their Euro 2025 opener on Saturday, but England ensured they enjoyed their send-off with a thumping win over Jamaica at the King Power.
It can sometimes be hard to tell just how much to take from a friendly of this nature, and what was clear from this 7-0 win was that a depleted Jamaica provided a demonstration to anyone at Euro 2025 of how to not play against England. The European champions and holders, though, displayed just how much quality they possess when they are allowed time and given options. “We should take a lot of confidence [from the result],” Leah Williamson said. “We wanted to move the ball, put on a show.”

Sarina Wegmann is last up to speak to ITV, and she tells them that she though “it was a good performance.
“We wanted to show what we could do in the final third. We could be a little more composed, make an extra pass, but I’m really happy with the performance,” she says.
“I think we saw what we wanted to see. I think the team is really strong but you can also make tactical choices.
“I think we have many players who can play in the 10. Right-back and left-back we can figure out also, on the elft we’ve changed it a couple of times. It depends, what do we need? We have options there.
“I am excited about the team, we’ve had two weeks of training and it was really good. We can feel the fight, we want to go the Euros and go out there and play. Let’s get ready for France,” she says as she finishes.

Georgia Stanway is next to speak to ITV.
“It was nice, i had a few chances and I tried to make one of them count. It was a nice game, as a whole the performance was very good,” she says.
“I didn’t expect to be having suergery in the end of January. Maybe it happened for a reason, I’m feeling good and feesh, it’s a cliché but I do feel fitter and faster than I have in a long time.
“The main things was to try and enjoy it, we worked hard in training and it was about getting those actions into the game.
“As the games get harder it’s about making sure that if we get a shot, it ends up in a goal.
“This is a new England side, and we’re hungry for it,” she adds.

Ella Toone is first to speak to ITV at full-time, and she says that England “enjoyed that game today”.
“A lot of goals and a clean sheet, and it’s nice to send ourselves off in that way,” she says.
“It’s been a long time coming, I’ve waited a while [for a goal]. Overall, the performance was great and we’re excited now.”
Asked on her place in the starting eleven, she says: “There’s competition all over the squad, that’s what makes it so exciting. No matter what role I have, I’ll make sure I give my best.
I enjoyed it but there’s others who can play that role and do a great job. We’ve got a very exciting group, and we’re going to take each game as it comes. Hopefully we can make the nation proud.”

A great performance from England in their send-off for Euro 2025.
The Lionesses will be among the favourites in Switzerland and that performance showed why, with some electric attacking in places.
There’ll be more difficult opposition from the off in this tournament, but Sarina Wiegman’s side will enter confident, knowing they can beat anyone on their day.

Who is Aggie Beever-Jones? From Lionesses hat-trick to Euro 2025 breakthrough
18:41
A quick profile on striker Aggie Beever-Jones, who fans can expect to see plenty of during Euro 2025...
When Aggie Beever-Jones was invited to train with England’s senior team for the first time, the forward wasn’t as nervous as some may expect. At 20, Beever-Jones was starting to get regular minutes at Chelsea, having broken into Emma Hayes’ side and earning her place among a world-class squad of internationals. With England, there were some star names, but also many familiar faces from her club: it wasn’t as big a step as many others face when they receive the call from the Under-23s.
But that has also been the key to Beever-Jones making England’s squad for the Euros, taking everything in her stride with an emerging sense of confidence. A year on, there is no question that Beever-Jones claimed her spot in England’s Euros squad on merit. In 2022, the lifelong Chelsea supporter was at Wembley as a fan as England defeated Germany to win the Euros. Flash forward to 2025 and Beever-Jones is a contender for PFA Young Player of the Year, a treble-winner with Chelsea, and already has a Wembley hat-trick for England to her name.

Jamaica have found how dangerous it is to completely sit off Keira Walsh and let the England midfielder spray passes around the pitch - that’s really been key to their dominance and threat throughout this first half.

Wiegman also gave her thoughts on today’s opponents, adding that “they'll challenge us physically”.
“They have a pretty direct style of play, so we expect to have the ball and that's where we put a bit more emphasis on,” she said.
“Of course you want to do it in every stage of the game you want to do well, but we need to be tight on the ball, we need to be calm on the ball, speed up when we need to speed up, and we really want to create chances as always, but be really well and composed to making the right decisions with the right speed in the final third,” she added.

In her pre-match conference, England boss Sarina Wiegman said that her squad “is in good shape” ahead of today’s game (and Euro 2025).
“Tomorrow is our last moment in England to show that we’re ready and how ready we are,” she added.
“We’re really excited to play the last game before we go into the tournament. You just want to get good connections out of the team and show the level we have at the moment.”

“We have to manage the minutes. She’s doing really well, but of course she hasn’t played games yet. But she’s in a good place.
“She will likely come off the bench, we can manage that a bit. She showed up on the training session really well. She could cope with loads and recover from loads. Her performance has been really good.
“She’s ready, we’re just still growing into minutes. This is the first time in a while that she’s coming into a game and [she needs to] get through that. Then we’ll take it from there towards the tournament.”

A “new” England heads to Switzerland for Euro 2025 look to defend the title they won on home soil three years ago.
There have been plenty of changes and seven players, from 19-year-old striker Michelle Agyemeng to the uncapped 30-year-old goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse, will be taking part in their first major international tournament.
But several winners from Euro 2022 will be back again under Sarina Wiegman, with captain Leah Williamson, Lucy Bronze and Beth Mead bringing the experience and setting the standards as England look to retain their crown.
