England v Panama: Anthony Barry shares his first-half verdict as Three Lions struggle

  • England assistant manager Anthony Barry has remained positive about his side’s first-half performance against Panama and feels a breakthrough is coming soon.
  • "We just concentrate on our own game, just another example there are no easy games at the World Cup,” the assistant manager tells ITV.
  • “Our guys wanted to start the game fast, they had the intent to start fast, the stadium was amazing and felt like a home game. With all of this energy it almost skewed our risk management - we had too many central ball losses and that opened up to counter attacks against a dangerous team.
  • “From there we got more control in the game and started to use our attacking talent, but of course talent isn't enough and we need synchronicity and rhythm and routines. From the 30th minute onwards it got better and better.
  • “We will go for verticality and speed on the last line. We have to take care of the coverage and the counter attacks."
