PASIR PUTEH - A man was shocked to find a 10-kilogramme (kg) python in a toilet bowl in his home in Kampung Wakaf, here, today.

The owner had noticed the two-meter-long reptile after he was woken up by a noise which sounded like pieces of wood falling from the roof at 1.05pm.

Pasir Puteh civil defence officer Captain (PA) Nik Mohd Nor Nik Mat said he received an emergency call about the incident at 2.05pm.

"Immediately after, five firefighters including an officer were dispatched to the scene to catch the python.

"Upon arrival, they found the snake coiled in the toilet," he said when contacted by Sinar on Sunday.

He said the serpent was successfully caught using snake thongs, clamps and hooks.

In another development, he said 60 pythons had been captured as of January until today.

Nik Mohd Nor said the hot weather forced the reptile to come out of its usual hiding place to find moist and cool areas.
