Kota Kinabalu: A veteran politician said the Unity Government has the support of 148 or two-thirds of the total 222 Members of Parliament (MPs) to amend Article 46 to increase the MP seats for Sabah and Sarawak.
Dr Chong Eng Leong said both Sabah and Sarawak state governments in mid-2020 did voice out about amending Article 46 to increase members of the House of Representatives so that the proportion of members from both Bornean states would be more than one-third.
“This could be done by adding at least 27 seats to Sabah and Sarawak; Malaya’s seats staying put at 165.
