Dewan Rakyat:Ramli Md Nor and Alice Lau elected as Deputy Speakers.

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Ramli Mohd Nor (BN-Cameron Highlands) and Alice Lau (PH-Lanang) have been elected as the new Dewan Rakyat deputy speakers.

They were appointed as Deputy Speakers after MPs voted in favour of them via a ballot. Ramli obtained 148 votes, while Alice managed to secure 146 votes.

Meanwhile the opposition's candidate Mas Ermieyati Samsudin managed to garner 74 votes.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had nominated Ramli Md Nor and Alice Lau for the post while Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan nominated former deputy minister in prime minister’s department (parliament and law) Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
