Great Britain have been beaten by Italy in the medal table at the European Athletics Championships 2026.
After winning the 100m and 200m, Amy Hunt completed her quest for a quadruple of sprint medals as she won gold in the 4x100m mixed relay, while Dina Asher-Smith made history becoming the most decorated athlete at European level of all time.
Georgia Hunter Bell then won gold in the women’s 1,500m to pull GB clear for the Italians at the top of the medal table.
But Italy won the men’s 4x400m relay to reclaim top spot and finish the final night of the championships with 10 golds, one more than Britain’s tally.
