EV taxi firm faces sexual assault rap

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) said Friday it is investigating a complaint against a Green GSM taxi driver who allegedly sexually assaulted a female passenger in Parañaque City on Sept. 12.

LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said the passenger alleged that the driver did not bring her to her intended destination but brought her to another place when she fell asleep, and sexually assaulted her.

The victim managed to escape and filed a complaint against the driver, Lacanilao added.

The LTO identified the GSM taxi driver based on closed-circuit television footage and the driver’s profile in the passenger’s booking information.

The driver and the owner or operator of the vehicle were ordered to appear before the LTO on Sept. 24, 2026, for a hearing.

Green GSM is an all-electric, app-based taxi and ride-hailing service operated by a Vietnamese company.

“The LTO will not stop taking action against drivers who attempt to take advantage of their passengers. This is not what we expect from a driver who has been entrusted to bring passengers safely to their destination,” Lacanilao said.
