Everton boss Sean Dyche admitted frustration after their defeat at Liverpool.

The Blues lost 2-0, with Ashley Young being sent off before halftime.

Dyche said: "My take is it is the bizarre nature of the modern game - how they have got 11 on the pitch at 0-0. No-one in the stadium knows why.

"Their manager certainly didn't know because he took off the player straight away because he realised.

"It changed the game quite obviously. That's the way it goes.

"The whole stadium were like what's going on there? Their manager is a fine judge and thought I'll get him off. That's the proof in itself."

On his side's performance, he also said: "My group of players have given everything. It's difficult with 10 men in any game, particularly this game.

"I thought we did well, to calm the game down and quell it. They took the energy and sting out of the game.

"Massive decisions from the officials and I think it's a head-scratcher.

"We kept it down to minimal chances of any real quality throughout the game, the second half game plan down to 10 men was working .

"But that big decision changes the feel for them. Then they get a penalty and it is very difficult.

"But I'm proud of the players' efforts."
