Manchester United resisted offers to sell Anthony Elanga over the summer.
The Athletic says Everton and Leicester City both made cash offers for the Sweden international.
However, United refused to part with the winger on recommendation of manager Erik ten Hag.
Elanga, 20, has made one assist in five games for United so far this season.
The Swede's contract with the English big club runs until the summer of 2026.
