Everton manager Sean Dyche's ambition for the international break was very simple.

The Toffees head coach wanted to find a balance between fitness and rest for his players.

The Goodison Park club have been working their players hard to ensure they are fit and ready when the Premier League resumes.

Asked about the work they are doing before the league resumes, Dyche told reporters: To find that right line of work with the ones you can, some individual work, some supportive physical work, some time off to get a break.

Trying to find that balance between really good work and often hard work, certainly in the period before they get some time off."

He added: Against popular belief, they all say we have loads of time to work with the players; we haven't, most of them will go away. Not all, but half the team, half of the starting 11, probably will do, and then you have probably got two days.

"Some of them will be working anyway; some of them will be working here, and they will be working. They will get some days off because I think that's important, and we try and get the lads who are away days off, if we can. Finding that balance is always the case. We would love another game; the players feel like that; three wins out of four; a very strong performance; you want another game, but that is not the case, so therefore we take a break, we regroup if you like, and make sure, hopefully, no one gets injured on international duty, and we get ready to go again."
