Everton winger Dwight McNeil believes the club's narrow escape last season gives them confidence.

The Toffees were in a similarly dangerous position in the league table last term.

However, a few remarkable late wins and crucial goals from Richarlison kept them in the top flight under then boss Frank Lampard.

Per the Liverpool Echo, McNeil stated: "It's hard; it's a tough one to take [last time they played upcoming opponents Crystal Palace].

When we scored, we finished the half strong and could have been 2-1 up. Another poor goal to concede, and then it's tough to get back into the game.

"I think everyone played with freedom and on the front foot, and we finished the half well, but if you don't take your chances, you get punished. Every game for us is massive.

"It's a tough one to take home. I think we've been in this position before, and the lads know what we need to do to stay up. I have confidence in that, but it's a tough one to take today.

"We know where we have gone wrong, and we want to correct it. Big week and big games ahead."
