'Everything destroyed': Irish towns clean up after Storm Chandra flooding

Flooding has hit parts of Ireland after rivers burst their banks following heavy rain.

The town of Enniscorthy in County Wexford was inundated after the River Slaney overflowed. Dublin Fire Brigade says it responded to multiple flooding and water rescue incidents.

In Aughrim, south of Dublin, raging floodwaters destroyed several structures. Resident Deirdre Monaghan says her home narrowly escaped the worst.

Rail disruption continues after part of the Belfast–Dublin line was flooded.

Business owner Anne Swaine described the scene in Enniscorthy as devastating.

“It’s all devastating… everything is totally and utterly destroyed.” she told AFP.
