
PENAMPANG: Datuk Ewon Benedick and Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin retained their respective posts as United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) president and deputy president unopposed at the party’s 17th Triennial Delegates Conference at the KDCA Hall here Monday.
Five Vice-Presidents were also elected without contest, namely Jairaiaz Joseph, Datuk Wong Thien Fook, Datuk Pangiran Lalung, Datuk Basari Sarikun, and Datuk Laurentius Nayan Ambu.
Speaking during his winding-up address, Ewon said he respected the democratic decision of the delegates, adding that the election outcome was aimed at further strengthening Upko as one big family.
He highlighted that six conference resolutions were debated and passed, which the new leadership line-up will submit to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor as well as raise in Parliament and the State Legislative Assembly.
The conference also saw leadership transitions across party wings, with Carlye Lajimin helming Youth, Mohina Sidom retaining Women's Chief, and Emmanuel Atin taking over the Young Generation movement.
