PENAMPANG: Penampang MP Datuk Ewon Benedick continued his tradition of presenting lion heads to various troupes and Chinese associations, here, Sunday.

The Upko President said, this year, his party donated 24 lion heads to 14 Chinese clubs and associations.

“This is among our efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of the Chinese as an important community in this country so that it continues to be an identity in our country, especially in Penampang.”

Ewon, who is also Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, said the Chinese are also not left behind in his ministry’s efforts through relevant agencies to uplift the people’s economy.

“We are aware that there are certain agencies whose programmes are specifically for bumiputeras, but there are also those that are open to all, including SME Corp which offers various types of grants.

“This is among my efforts to ensure that financing facilities cover the interests of all people regardless of ethnicity,” he said.
