Ewon reaffirms support for Sabah entrepreneurs outside the state

Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Chief Minister and Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick has pledged to continue supporting Sabah entrepreneurs and traders marketing Sabah-branded products at Tamu Budaya Borneo in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

He said the commitment builds on initiatives introduced during his tenure as Federal Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, including a RM50,000 allocation to the Persatuan Pasar Budaya Borneo Seri Kembangan to upgrade facilities at the cultural market.

Ewon said he was pleased that Tamu Budaya Borneo continued to grow and attract increasing interest from entrepreneurs from Sabah and Sarawak to operate there.

Speaking after hosting a dinner and meeting with the association led by its president Nelson Entap while in Kuala Lumpur for the Parliamentary sitting on Wednesday, he said he had also introduced the Tamu Entrepreneur Financing Scheme (Sput) through Tekun Nasional to assist tamu entrepreneurs from Sabah and Sarawak, with 12 Teman Tekin groups at the market having since received financing.

He said Mindet had received numerous requests to continue supporting Sabah entrepreneurs selling Sabah-branded products outside the state, particularly in the Klang Valley, adding that the initiative would form part of the ministry's agenda under the Sabah First Vision in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 roadmap.
