Former Manchester City goalkeeper David James believes Mateo Kovacic will add to their attacking weapons this new season.
The Croatia midfielder has arrived this summer from Chelsea.
And James told City's website: "I think [a player like] Kovacic coming into the City squad is something that City haven't had before because the way Kovacic plays is unlike anyone else, in my opinion. He can pick balls up, break lines with the ball.
"Yes, Kevin De Bruyne does but he doesn't do it from any kind of defensive position, you know what I mean?
"So, I think there's already a plan for Pep (Guardiola) to play the game differently."
