Ex-national cricketer Harinder breaks second world record for box jump

KUALA LUMPUR – Former national cricketer Harinder Singh Sekhon has become the new Guinness World Record holder for the highest seated box jump at 1.52m.

The record was previously held by American Victor Hubbard on February 22 at 1.48m.

In a statement, Harinder said he set the record on October 15 after having gone through “vigorous training in the past 11 months”.

The 31-year-old said he also had to undergo a change in diet while working as a full-time mathematics teacher at MAZ International School in Shah Alam.

“I am really happy. Part of me could not believe it at first when I balanced myself on the platform.

“A lot of hard work, dedication, and sacrifices really paid off. I might even have my first cheat meal in 11 months,” he said in a statement released today while expressing his gratitude towards his family, friends, and sponsors.

Harinder’s first world record was achieved in May last year, which still stands for the highest single-leg stand jump at 1.384m – outdoing Canadian Evan Ungar’s 1.34m.

He aims to break another record related to the long jump by the first quarter of next year. – The Vibes, October 22, 2022
