Former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given hailed the performance of Bruno Guimaraes after victory Fulham.
Given admits he had concerns ahead of the 3-0 win.
He told Match of the Day: I was worried before the game from a Newcastle perspective, losing two in the Premier League and AC Milan in midweek. But this guy (Guimaraes) stepped up to the plate today.
Yes, he's done brilliantly in a Newcastle top since he got there but today I just think, everything he did, he bossed the midfield, he always wanted the ball. At times it was Scholes-like the way he was pinging it to different people.
He was always trying to change play, change sides and stretch this Fulham team all over the pitch. When you want somebody to step up, he's been a real leader for Eddie Howe this season.
"He was involved in all the goals and all the positive stuff they did. This (cross for Burn's goal), for people of my era, is Nolberto Solano-like. What a phenomenal ball that was."
