AN ex-policeman is among six individuals arrested, believed to be involved in armed robbery targeting foreign residents' homes around Kepong, involving losses totalling RM4.4 million.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said police received three police reports involving a man and a woman who are Chinese citizens and an Indonesian woman, aged between 29 and 52.

According to him, the incident occurred around the Kepong area, where in this incident, the three victims' houses were broken into by six unknown suspects between 5.30 am and 7.30 am, last Sunday.

“We found that the modus operandi of this group is to use firearms when committing robberies and impersonating civil servants, including police officers.

“As a result of the investigation, the police conducted an operation and successfully arrested six suspects, in addition to repossessing all the stolen vehicles,” he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), today.

He said that in the incident between 5.30 am and 7.30 am on April 5, the suspect broke into the victim’s home before pointing an object resembling a gun to scare the occupants.

He said that the suspect stole three luxury vehicles, a Toyota Alphard, Rolls-Royce and Bentley, as well as a safe, RM24,200 in cash, US$1,200, various jewellery and two gold bars.

He said the total loss was estimated to reach RM4.4 million.

In addition, Fadil said the first arrest involving three suspects was made at 8.45 pm on the day of the incident.

“The arrest led to the arrest of three more suspects in follow-up operations around the capital. All of them are between 31 and 51 years old,” he explained.

Fadil said the police also seized two pistols, five vehicles, RM13,056 in cash, various foreign currencies, eight mobile phones and two security passes.

“All suspects were remanded for seven days, and a urine test found that one of them tested positive for amphetamine,” he said.

He added that initial investigations found that there was a suspect with a background as a security guard, in addition to a former policeman who is believed to be the coordinator of the group.

The case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code and Section 170 of the Penal Code. – April 8, 2026
