Ex-Sabah Forest Industries staff plead to restore power, water supplies

Kota Kinabalu: Some 1,000 residents in the Sabah Forest Industries (SFI) Sipitang housing estate hope the authorities will resume electricity and water supplies that had been cut the past three months.

A resident’s representative, Jeffridin Baudi, said have affected 674 household heads who are still living in the housing due to unable to move due to not having their own house or land.

In addition, three schools are also affected,” he said.

He said residents have received a court order to evict but the process of taking over the company is still going on in court.

He hoped the Government would intervene in and request that Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) Chairman Datuk Seri Madius Tangau prioritise to reconnect electricity.

“We also want the Forestry Department to investigate the logging activities,” he said, adding the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should investigate.
