Former Sporting CP chief Jose Chieira has taken aim at Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola over his handling of Pedro Porro.
Porro, now with Tottenham, was on the books at City but made his name on-loan with Sporting.
Chieira recalled to AS: "They didn't know what to do with him.
Manchester City didn't know what to do with Pedro Porro, but we, at Sporting, identified many good things in his game and decided to move on. There was also the fact that Guardiola was the coach.
"He asks the full-backs to play in a way that did not fit Porro's profile."
He added, "You could see that he had the right character. We thought he was someone who could interpret Rben Amorim's instructions. He was mentally sound, the kind of player you need if you want to win every game. It all made sense."
